Chicago Gaming Company addresses Decal Issues

Chicago Gaming Company

On the Monster Bash Remake Owners Club thread on Pinside, some owners were reporting some issues on the upper front corners of the cabinet.

Ryan White of Chicago Gaming Company addressed the issues last week on this post, saying:

I want to address the reports of cracks in the decals on the upper front corners of the Monster Bash cabinet.

As of today, this issue has occurrenced in less than 1% of all MBr games shipped. We had seen a similar issue on AFM and changed the way we wrap the decals. It seemed the issue was resolved until we started shipping in colder weather.

We have been proudly building cabinets since 1977 for nearly every pinball manufacturer and take great pride in what we build. Every game goes through multiple levels of quality control to ensure that the game going into the box is of the highest standards. We understand what the pinball community demands from a NIB game.

I want to let everybody know that this is only a decal issue and not an issue with the cabinet construction. We have built hundreds of thousands of cabinets utilizing the same corner joints and have had remarkably few issues.

In an effort to stop all cracking on the decals, we will no longer wrap the decals around the corner. We feel that this should decrease the overall risk of potential decal splitting.

deeprootmatt discusses John Popadiuk

Pinsider deeprootmatt chimed in on the deeproot Pinball thread on Pinside on this post, where he discusses working with John Popadiuk at deeproot:

So i want to take a minute here to give my own personal account and experience working with Jpop. I figure a sort of third party opinion from someone who has been working closely with him over the last 1.5 years might be of interest. Again, this is my own personal opinion.

I will also preface this message with this: I get it. He screwed up. A lot of people here are upset. And i completely understand that. I will continue to stay out of that as much as i can and focus on what I can do: doing my part in bringing about success for deeproot.

John has been, and continues to be a great friend. He is always able to provide valuable insight into whatever aspect I am working on. The amazing conversations we have had are numerous, and his passion for pinball is absolutely contagious. I have now been brought into the pinball world i never knew existed.. and its amazing! I have learned more over the last 1.5 years than I could have ever imagined and John has had a big part in that. So I wanted to take this moment to share this with you guys, and take it as you will.

Also, I hate to leave out the other amazing people I get to work with as John is just one of MANY people at deeproot. All of us here are REALLY excited for what is to come, and it is coming!

A Story about Pinball Wizard by The Who

Jeff Teolis of Pinball Profile joined Zach Meny on the This Week in Pinball Podcast last week, and shared a very cool and interesting story about the Pinball Wizard song by The Who:

Do you realize that is the last song they recorded for the album Tommy?  A little history, right now as we’re recording is exactly 50 years to the day from when they went into record that song…so it was the last song recorded.  The album came out in May of ’69 but they were in the studio recording right now.  So think of the whole concept of Tommy – he is this deaf, dumb, and blind boy who kind of thinks he’s the Messiah when he comes through, and it is pinball that gets him there.  That was never part of it.  But because Pete Townsend knew this music critic hated – HATED – The Who, but loved pinball – he wrote a song about pinball to win over the critic.  That is how it started.

[That song NEVER gets old, amirite??]
