The Pinball Industry Awards

Last week The Pinball Network’s new awards show took place. The show was very well produced and a huge congrats to all the winners!

We have received a lot of questions regarding the PIAs vs. the TWIPYs. As a reminder, the TWIPYs are a “People’s Choice” type awards, where the public votes for their favorites in the pinball world – anyone can vote. We then go through the metadata for each vote to review and validate votes and results.

The PIAs are described as a “critic’s choice” type of awards. The Pinball Industry Awards had 40 judges that picked which games won.

The excellence awards for podcast and streamer and such were determined by folks at The Pinball Network, not by the judges.

The challenge with a critic’s choice type of awards will always be the question of what qualifies a person to be a judge or an expert or a critic. The judges this year were required to be a podcaster, streamer, video content creator, or writer in pinball (with more than a specified amount of minimum content). They were not required to have played the games they were judging, but could abstain from voting. TWIP was not eligible to take part as a judge as we have some content behind a paywall.

Your scrutiny and criticism and feedback of the TWIPYs has helped the show get better every year, and I’m sure the PIA’s learned a lot this year as well. It takes a ton of time and effort to put together a quality awards show and there is no perfect way to do it.

Pinball Brothers: Alien Lighting Features

Flyland Designs: New Art Blades for Medieval Madness

Check out these new Medieval Madness Art Blades created by Brian Allen from Flyland Designs!

Per Brian Allen:

These officially-licensed Medieval Madness decals feature my hand-drawn artwork and are designed to be easily applied to the inner-sides of your Medieval Madness pinball machine.

My Side Art Blades are high-quality vinyl decals that are applied to the interior cabinet sides, just above the playfield.

All of the artwork was hand-drawn by me, artist Brian Allen. Ships directly from the artist.

  • Officially licensed from Williams/Bally, and come with a genuine Hologram sticker to prove authenticity.
  • Printed on thick Matte White Opaque Air Egress/Perm, high-quality vinyl.
  • The Air-Egress vinyl adhesive we use makes for easy and forgiving installation. (10-15 minute installation)
  • Printed with vibrant, fade-resistant colors.
  • Laminated with a scratch-resistant protective coating that will keep them looking like new for many years.
  • The textured, matte laminate will also minimize the number of reflections from the Playfield lights.
  • Fits ALL Medieval Madness pinball machines.
  • Die-Cut hole in each blade to accommodate backbox hinge bolt for easy installation.
  • Set of two pre-cut decals (one for each side).

These Art Blades are produced and designed and in the USA!
